Areas of Specialization

Most therapists have special training, experience, or interest in a few specific areas, and no one therapist is qualified to treat every issue.

I see clients with a variety of issues, including anxiety, life transitions, stress management, and relationship/family challenges, and I have several areas of special interest, experience, and advanced training:

– Anxiety and related disorders

– Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

– Vicarious trauma and compassion fatigue, specializing in physicians, nurses, health care professionals, and First Responders.

– Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors (BFRBs), such as chronic hair-pulling and skin-picking

– Chronic pain and illness

– Sensory processing sensitivity (also known as the Highly Sensitive Person trait, or HSP)

For medical Professionals

Trauma comes in a variety of forms, from childhood neglect to surviving an accident.
With Covid, healthcare professionals like physicians, nurses, and First Responders have been challenged like never before. Even seasoned professionals are physically, mentally, and emotionally exhausted. I work from a trauma-informed approach to help you process your experience and create more healthy and adaptive meanings around trauma.

Body-focused Repetitive Behaviors

Chronic hair pulling, skin picking, nail biting, thumb sucking, and more. I use a variety of research-backed modalities, including stimulus control, distress tolerance training, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and tools for habit reversal to develop a comprehensive, individualized treatment plan for these complex behaviors.
